Jesse Jones lives by these words, and has made it a mission to help others tap into their own passions and actualize their dreams through their careers.
Jesse, 29, has a zest for life that is fuelled by ambition and positive energy. His own ability to recognize that which makes him excited has created the opportunity for Jesse to transfer those elements into his own fulfilling career as an authority on marketing, brand development, and consumer relationships.
As the founder of TEN81 brand consultancy, Jesse helps brands manage their public image and connect in an authentic way to their target audience through creative lifestyle-based marketing opportunities.
Jesse is also the founder of U-ology 101, a motivational presentation that helps people identify the things they are passionate about, develop strategies for harnessing those concepts, and build an action plan for success. His presentations have been described by attendees as “infectious”, “inspirational”, “memorable”, “powerful”, “beneficial” and “thought-provoking”.
The birth of the U-ology 101 was inspired by both Jesse’s love of marketing and a presentation he delivered at the prestigious Queen’s University School of Business in 2009 on marketing and maintaining brand relevance in a technology-driven culture. Jesse was fascinated by the fact that most of the questions from the audience were not about his marketing experience, but were focused on how he was able to get into a career that he was so excited about.
“U-ology 101 is a global movement,” says Jesse. “It’s about igniting a different way of thinking amongst individuals where understanding your passions becomes what guides you in your conscious decision-making about where you want to go with your life.”
Jesse was born into an entrepreneurial family. In 1987, Jesse’s parents, Allan and Denise Jones, founded the successful event management and promotion company, Jones & Jones Productions. Growing up immersed in the hectic culture of the music and entertainment worlds was exciting to Jesse, and helped shape his drive and work ethic. He knew from an early age that he, too, wanted to launch his own business endeavours and further grow what his parents had put into existence.
“Being an entrepreneur is so exciting to me because I can pave my own way to unlimited possibilities,” says Jesse. “Watching my parents do what they loved and seeing them control their destiny showed me that the opportunities available to you in life can be what you make them to be”
The launch of TEN81, a division of the Jones & Jones Group, is the culmination of Jesse’s experience in lifestyle marketing, brand management, partnership development, and social media strategy.
With his extensive background working with a broad range of organizations, including Bell, MuchMusic, Mattel, RBC, Converse, Energizer, Fuji Film, Adidas, and Ford, Jesse is well-equipped to guide today’s forward-thinking companies in building successful, consumer relationships with the highly-coveted, youthful demographic.
Jesse’s degree in communications and marketing from the University of Ottawa gave him a solid foundation in the fundamentals of brand development and strategy. Over the course of his burgeoning career, experiences such as an internship with SonyBMG and his position as Manager of Brand Partnerships at The Y Syndicate, further developed his expertise in helping brands connect to their audience using non-traditional, lifestyle-based marketing strategies.
From 2007 to early 2011, Jesse was responsible for national marketing, advertising and PR strategies and activities for Timex Group of Canada Inc.’s TX, Marc Ecko, and Nautica licensed fashion watch brands. In this position, Jesse designed and implemented strategies to expose those brands to a technology-savvy, entertainment-focused, and active demographic. His brand direction included developing and overseeing the award-winning “Be Unlimited” campaign, which featured artists, athletes and global celebrities who share a passion and drive for excellence in their fields.
By combining his years of expertise in generating consumer excitement for brands with his innate ability to inspire individuals to ignite passion within their own lives, Jesse has become a powerful force who is leaving an indellible mark on the world.
